Antonella Gallo, lecturer of Spanish Literature at the University of Verona since 2002, has specialised in the Spanish Literature of the Golden Age, focusing especially on comic interludes and on baroque short novel characterized by linguistic mannerisms. She has also worked on gambling in the Golden Age as a recurrent theme across different literary genres of the period. She is currently researching on the literary journalism of the XIXth century (1825-1865), in relation to some crucial aspects of the society and cultural production of the time and with a special focus upon the so-called “cuadros de costumbres” investigated as a privileged means of conservation, circulation and transmission of Spanish and European cultural heritage in an interdisciplinary perspective.

She participated in two national research projects (PRIN) funded by MIUR in 2004 and 2000. Since 2009, she has been member of the C.R.I.E.R, an interdisciplinary research Centre on European Romanticism hosted at the University of Verona since 1992, besides of the Editorial Board of the academic journal edited by the above mentioned research Centre. In 2016 she was Invited Visiting Scholar at Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

Since 2002 to present, she has been teaching modules in BA and MA’s Degrees offered by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures (mainly on Spanish Literature of the XIXth and XXth centuries).
