Lisanna Calvi has focused her research interests on Restoration and early modern theatre and drama as well as on Jacobite culture and literature. She has also written on autobiography and madness in seventeenth-century England, Shakespeare and the commedia dell'arte, and the presence of the Bible in Victorian literature. In the field of adaptation studies, she has been working on the reception of Shakespeare on the nineteenth-century Italian stage, with particular attention to Romeo and Juliet; her research is currently dedicated to Shakespearean adaptations in eighteenth-century British theatre.
A member of various associations (AIA, ESRA, ESSE), in May 2024, she has been elected to the Executive Board of IASEMS (Italian Association of Shakespearean and Early Modern Studies).
