Curriculum

Professor Roberto Cagliero specializes  in American Literature. His reasearch includes the 19th century short story (mostly Edgar Allan Poe), modernism (Stein, Fitzgerald), and the postmodern novel (Barth, Barthelme, Coover, Pynchon). He is currently investigating several aspects of African-American culture (the debate on slavery, Slave narratives, political discourse in Malcolm X and Martin Luther King)la cultura afroamericana (il dibattito sullo schiavismo, le autobiografie degli schiavi, i discorsi politici di Martin Luther King e Malcolm X) His interest in lexicografy focuses on the relationship betweenStandard American English, slang, and the languages of minoritues in US.
