Curriculum

Roberta Facchinetti is specialised in:

  1. Media discourse, with special focus on the language of journalism,
  2. The language of negotiations,
  3. Diachronic and synchronic corpus linguistics.

The publications resulting from the above-mentioned studies are almost exclusively international.

She has received the following international awards:
-“Premio por la alta calidad de su trabajo” awarded by the Minister of Science, Technology and Environment of Cuba (January 2015);
- Primo Premio alla Cultura “Artemisia Gentileschi” for Academic excellence, awarded by the International Students Union (March 2005).

She is Co-Director of the journal IPERSTORIA: Testi Letterature, Linguaggi, rated Class A Journal by ANVUR (Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes).

Research group on Anglophone Studies
The group studies a number of topics related to English and its varieties and to American culture and literature. IPERSTORIA (WWW.IPERSTORIA.IT), officially acknowledged by ANVUR as a scientific journal, is the journal of the group.

Contemporary English
Language and Media between information and ideology This research field focuses on the language of the Media, with special attention to newsreporting and to the newsmaking process. It covers both online and off-line, both mainstream and unmediated media. The topic delves into semantics, and semiotics, pragmatics and stylistics, bearing in mind cultural and ideological backgrounds. English language and linguistics
English language: cultural Studies and Mentalities
English Corpus Linguistics Corpus linguistics is the study of language as expressed in collections of "real world" texts. English Corpus linguistics may focus either on historical databases (diachronic corpora) or on Present-day English texts (sychronic corpora). Corpus linguistics also studies how one language relates to and with another language, by means of parallel/comparable corpora, which are are automatically derived from source texts.
