Short description of contents:
The paper focuses on Angela Carter's revision of the fairy tale genre, in particular the interpretation of the contract as a means for women's empowerment. In a process of self-knowledge, the female protagonists pass from a passive and resigned position as mere economic objects to be traded in the dominant patriarchal system of society to an active position which annihiliates the contract itself or which turns upside down the terms of the contract positioning women as obligors. In this way they undermine and put into question the dominant social dimension.
