- D'Annunzio's biographers and critics have never closely analyzed his plays rendered in English by the well-known English writer Arthur Symons, friend of Oscar Wilde, G. B. Shaw and W. B. Yeats. Symons translated a few of D'Annunzio's plays and edited the poems included in "The Child of Pleasure".

- This is the first long article which analyzes Symons painstaking translations of Gabriele D'Annunzio's plays, also through original documentary evidence, and follows their friendship from the moment they met in Rome to the success of "La figlia di Iorio" and "La fiaccola sotto il moggio".
