My doctoral thesis project aims to study the teaching of the Spanish language in mixed classrooms with students of Hispanic-American and Spanish origin in the area of Verona. Through an analysis of the representation and treatment of diatopic varieties of Spanish within the Spanish as a Foreign Language classroom, this study investigates its role in the learning experience of the heritage speaking students and the consequent impact on their identity.
