Curriculum

I am a PhD candidate in Linguistics (PhD near completion) within the international doctoral program International Doctoral Track in Linguistics.

Doctoral research program:
My work focuses on the sociophonetic analysis of language contact between German and Italian in adult learners. This is a niche that has so far received little attention, yet it is highly relevant for understanding learning dynamics and their potential pedagogical implications. Specifically, my research investigates phenomena of Cross-Linguistic Influence, i.e. how the phonetic systems of “competing” languages within a speaker’s repertoire influence one another. I also examine the challenges learners face with notoriously “difficult” sounds, as well as the strategies they are able to develop independently to overcome these difficulties.
