Ainur Kakimova

Ainur Kakimova is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, University of Verona. She holds a double doctoral degree in Linguistics from the University of Warsaw and Foreign Languages and Literatures from the University of Verona, awarded in 2025. She was an Early-Stage Researcher within the Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie European Joint Doctorate network ELIT (Empirical study of Literature). Her research is interdisciplinary, combining literary studies, psycholinguistics, cognitive narratology, and educational research. Her doctoral research used eye-tracking and questionnaire methods to investigate how first- and second-language readers process literary counterfactuals. Her current research at the University of Verona focuses on counterfactuals, possible worlds, reader reception, and literature-based approaches to inclusive and democratic values. She has published in international peer-reviewed journals including Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, European Journal of Psychology of Education and AILA Review, and presented her research at international conferences including EASP, IAEA and IGEL. Her work has also been supported by research and travel grants from the University of Warsaw’s Excellence Initiative – Research University (IDUB), the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and the Permanent International Committee of Linguists (CIPL).
