Curriculum

Silvia Cavalieri holds a Ph.D in Comparative Languages and Cultures from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE). She is currently a senior research fellow (RTD-B) at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures of the University of Verona. Before that, she was a junior research fellow (RTD- A) at the Department MEMOTEF of the “Sapienza” University of Rome. She lectured at the University of Ferrara, University of Parma and University of Milan. Her areas of research and publication include ESP, legal language, courtroom discourse, academic discourse, and medical discourse. Some of her latest publications include:   “Rhetorical Variation in English and Italian Law Research Article Abstracts: A Cross-cultural Analysis” (2018) with Giuliana Diani, "The Dissemination of Dietary Treatments for Refractory Epilepsy: A Preliminary Analysis of Web-based Discourse on the Ketogenic Diet" (2019), "Assessing caregiver informative materials on the Ketogenic Diet in Italy: a textual ethnographic approach" (2019).

It covers both online and off-line, both mainstream and unmediated media. English Corpus Linguistics Corpus linguistics is the study of language as expressed in collections of "real world" texts. English Corpus linguistics may focus either on historical databases (diachronic corpora) or on Present-day English texts (sychronic corpora). Corpus linguistics also studies how one language relates to and with another language, by means of parallel/comparable corpora, which are are automatically derived from source texts.
