I receive my students either online via Zoom or in presence in my office 3.03 (Palazzo di Lingue). Office hours are on Wednesday h. 12:00 pm-2:00 p.m. Students intend to attend my office hours are required to reach me by email so that I can schedule an appointment according to their needs.
Michele Mannoni (滿鉑淵) is a scholar of Chinese Legal Language at the University of Verona where he carries out a three-year research project in Chinese legal language and corpus linguistics within the Project of Excellence of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature. His main research interests include legal linguistics, legal translation and legal semiotics. He is currently investigating metaphors of Chinese law, carrying out analyses on how the meaning of abstract concepts is created via metaphors, and how they vary cross-lingually. His most recent publications include a co-authored paper with Deborah Cao (Griffith University, Australia) “Are There ‘Illegal Rights’ in Chinese Law? On the Meanings of Feifa Quanyi” published in the Chinese Journal of Comparative Law, Oxford University press. He attends international conferences and has carried out research in various internationally-established institutions, including the Academia Sinica of Taipei, Taiwan (中央研究院). He was a part-time certified legal translator himself until December 2018. His memberships include the European China Law Studies Association (ECLS, 欧洲中国法研究协会) and the Association for Researching & Applying Metaphor (RaAM).
