Curriculum

Michele Mannoni (满铂渊) is a linguist of Mandarin Chinese, which he investigates from different perspectives, mainly in the fields of discourse analysis and conceptual metaphor theory. His interest focuses on processes of signification, both at the intralinguistic and interlingual level. The main focus of his research is Chinese legal language, understood as the linguistic variety used in laws, regulations and private legal documents. In his most recent publications, he has explored metaphors used in Chinese and English for key legal concepts, such as 'legal rights' (權利) and 'injustice' (冤). He is currently working on perfecting a procedure for identifying linguistic metaphors in Chinese, and is extending his research to the analysis of the metaphorical language of emotions. For the Project of Excellence on Inclusive Humanities (2023-2027), he works in the area of linguistics on the topics of inclusion and accessibility through the above perspectives with a focus on institutional language, and language about health, including psycho-affective and physical health.
