Alessia Polatti ha conseguito la laurea triennale (2011) e magistrale (2013) in Lingue e Letterature Straniere presso l'Università di Bologna, e il titolo di dottore di ricerca in Letteratura Inglese presso l'Università di Verona (2018). La dott.ssa Polatti è specializzata in Letteratura Postcoloniale e la sua ricerca si occupa della letteratura della migrazione Black British, con un focus sui fenomeni di "return" e "reverse" migration. Ha pubblicato in alcune riviste nazionali e internazionali, tra cui Il Tolomeo (Università Ca' Foscari), Altre Modernità (Università di Milano), CES (Commonwealth Essays and Studies) e The ESSE Messenger. Ha partecipato a numerosi convegni, tra cui the Second Callaloo Early Career Researchers Conference presso la University of Oxford (2016), e ha organizzato il convegno internazionale Bestiarium. Rappresentazioni dell'umano e dell'animale (2016) e il primo AIA Pre-Conference Symposium for Early-Career Researchers (2019). Tra i suoi interessi di ricerca si trovano la Black British Fiction, la letteratura postcoloniale di area indiana e caraibica, il concetto di Englishness/Britishness nella letteratura contemporanea, la letteratura inglese coloniale e la riscrittura postcoloniale del canone inglese.
