The course wishes to introduce the students to some of the most significant texts of late-Romantic and Victorian travel literature and, at the same time, guide them through the reading experience, critical mazes and contemporary analytical approaches which, eventually, will help them to follow the steps of some of England’s most distinguished writers during their itineraries in Italy. “In fair Verona” it will be possible during the course to put into practice some of the literary itineraries.
Students will be interrogated but they must also produce a short final paper, assigned by the teacher, on figures, themes, ideas, practices of the Romantic and Victorian Italian tour.
