Learning outcomes

“The Clash of Cultures and cultural appropriation”
These two modules aim at analysing the legitimazation strategies inherent in the canonical versions of identity and beauty as they appear in literary works and as are hidden in the privileged discursive practices of culture, race, class and gender. Educationally, the aim of the course is to facilitate the acquisition of the most salient literary, critical, historical and cultural notions covering the period from the 19th to the 21st century.

The course is divided into two parts: the first introductory part will focus on the historical development of literature, while the second will facilitate a close textual and cultural reading of the chosen literary works.
