I obtained my degree in German Literature and Philosophy from the University of Innsbruck. Since 2006 I am a Full professor of German Literature at the University of Verona. My research has been mostly focused on Austrian and German Literature of the 20th Century and on actual principles and methods of literary criticism. I am a member of the editorial board of the journal “Cultura tedesca”. My publication activity includes essays on Adalbert Stifter, Franz Kafka, R. M. Rilke, Robert Musil and contemporary authors. I also published the following books: Buchstäblichkeit und Bildlichkeit bei Adalbert Stifter. Dekonstruktive Lektüren (1996), Saggi sul volto. Rilke, Musil, Kafka (2005), Franz  Kafkas Gesten. Studien zur Entstellung der menschlichen Sprache (2011). Recently I edited with G. Pelloni the following collection of Ingeborg Bachmann's unedited writings: Male oscuro. Aufzeichnungen aus der Zeit der Krankheit (Suhrkamp/Piper 2017).
