Third mission, social involvement and services for the community
Knowing the importance of integrating university teaching and research and engagement with the local society, the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures has forged a synergistic relationship with local bodies for sharing culture and education. In line with its vocation and available resources, the Department promotes many activities that contribute to the social, cultural and economic development of local society. For example:
- informative contributions and online publications dedicated to the public;
- conferences dedicated to professional training;
- introduction of professional development courses designed primarily for secondary school teachers and aimed at offering methodological-linguistic training;
- activities in collaboration with high schools and aimed at pupils (Kidsuniversity);
- organization of conferences and seminars aimed at citizens, involving cultural and social institutions, as well as local and regional authorities, but also at a national level;
- organization of concerts, exhibitions and other events open to the social community;
- organization of public events (The Researchers' Night, Open Day)
- proposals for research projects actively involving local organizations and companies;
- collaborations with local institutions and companies aimed at improving students' professionalization (e.g. in the field of publishing and museum conservation, application of new technologies, management of cultural heritage, organization of events, company management, tourism and artistic management, playing a vital role in stimulating local and national firms and enterprises.
