Emotional involvement is of pivotal importance when children learn to read, tell, and share stories. This crucial dimension of cultural literacy has received surprisingly little attention within literary studies, psychology, and digital humanities. The Emotions in Children's and Youth Literature conference (19-21 September 2024) will present the first results of the CHYLSA project (Children's and Youth Literature Sentiment Analysis, based at the University of Mainz and at the Free University of Berlin) and it will explore possible synergies with the “Inclusive Humanities” Excellence Project at the University of Verona.
