Writings for children and young adults (YA) have always contributed to portraying the complexities which characterise the identities of their characters and their readers. Children and young adults are faced with the task of finding an answer to the Caterpillar's question, and must do so in an ever-changing world which appears as full of answers, but actually provides a lot of question marks. Moreover, this process of identity-defining acquires a multifaceted ontology when inserted in the realm of the new media, which provide the grounds for the construction of new identities aimed at concealing, reaffirming, or transforming the writing/reading Self, who takes on new forms to adapt itself to these new performative stages.
