The research focuses upon the European transmission, absorption, and reinvention of classical models, and takes into account the translative processes at work in their English translation from the Latin originals or from their Italian and French mediations. Special attention is paid to the function of the Chorus as a privileged example of the performative and theatrical potential of the Early Modern encounter between the past and the present as well as between different cultural traditions.
