Focus on the historical development of newsreporting, from the early Modern English to the dawn of the twentieth century. Special attention is dedicated to how historical events can be inferred from news discouese, for example the positioning of newspapers with reference to the major historical events of the period and how newspapers discursively mirror the major historical events.
