Doctorate research program

My PhD project, "Concessivity in argumentation: evidence from a corpus of Italian-speaking students" has three theoretical goals: a systematic classification of the various semantic types of concessive constructs in Italian, the elaboration of a practical annotation scheme for annotation tthat other studies can also benefit from, and the creation of a list, as exhaustive as possible, of the markers that can introduce concession in Italian. A corpus-based empirical analysis will be conducted to validate the above-mentioned semantic classification and list of markers: the basis for the analysis is represented by the corpus of the ITACA project (EURAC Research) which includes texts produced by Italian native speakers at the end of the second cycle of education.
