THe main aim is to delve into the world of print and online media to investigate the impact that virtual and physical mobility in professional journalism has on the use of language resources in newsrooms. Specialised languages will be looked into so as to identify the cultural specificities transpiring from their jargon in Italian, English, German, French and Spanish media due to language contact phenomena resulting from increased global mobility. The main aim will be to highlight: a) which specialized terms typical of the English word stock have been integrated into the aforementioned languages in and via online newspapers; b) which neologisms in the aforementioned languages have been created in an by the media to replace English loanwords/borrowings in the media; c) which terms from other languages following to international mobility have become part of online newspapers in the aforementioned settings.
