Overview
This course, aimed at students with an undergraduate or postgraduate degree and at least C1 level competency in their chosen language, offers training in literary and non-fiction translation in various fields of critique (literature, visual and performing arts, journalism), with a view to developing a level of professionalism they can actually put to use. As well as lectures on translation theory, including reflection on the various fields of non-fiction translation, translation revision techniques and Italian sylistics techniques, the course also includes two seminars on literary translation and non-fiction translation. Particular attention will be given to the use of new technology and its issues (for example, the case of e-books). A significant final test with a practical, vocational purpose, carried out by teachers in a particular direction, will enable students to deepen their knowlege and, for non-fiction translation, specialise in a pre-chosen critical field (literature, visual arts, music, cinema or various forms of performing arts). Regular interaction with the publishing market and its requirements will be ensured through conferences and workshops with publishing representatives and other professionals in the industry.
