Teaching strategies
The study programmes of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures include six foreign languages (Chinese, English, French, German, Russian, Spanish) along with their literatures and cultures. Special attention is given to linguistic changes, dissemination of culture, and literary significance and reception both in European and in non-European countries. Specifically, the study programmes cover the following:
- French language and linguistics, as well as French and Francophone literatures and cultures;
- Spanish language and linguistics, as well as Spanish and Hispanic-American literatures and cultures;
- English language and linguistics, as well as English, Anglo-American, and postcolonial literatures and cultures;
- German language and linguistics, as well as German and Austrian literatures and cultures;
- Russian language, linguistics, literature, and culture;
- Chinese language, linguistics, literature, and culture.
Additionally, the Department offers Catalan and Portuguese-Brazilian language courses.
The study programmes of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures cover all levels of university education: three Bachelor’s degree programmes, two Master’s degree programmes, and two PhD programmes.

In all degree programmes – and particularly at PhD level – scholars from European and non-European universities are regularly involved to complement and further deepen the scientific specificity and professionalization of the courses offered.
Other Educational Activities
Each year, professional courses dedicated to specific fields are also offered: master’s programmes, advanced and professional development courses, continuing education courses aimed at professional categories, as well as Teacher qualification and training Courses (percorsi abilitanti di formazione dei docenti della scuola secondaria (PF 30 e 60 CFU).
