Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Learning objectives
This introductory course aims to present students with knowledge on the tools and techniques at the foundation of Digital Humanities. At the end of the course students: - will know the computer science and technological foundations of Digital Humanities; - will know the main markup web languages: HTML and XML; - will know the main languages and the tools to encode digital texts in the publishing and humanities domains; - will know the main tasks and tools for the automatic processing of natural language, in particular for written text; - will know the main methodologies and tools for the computational analysis of literary texts.

None (primary school math and basic everyday computer skills)

Bibliography
Didactic methods
Classroom lectures, with showcasing of some practical activities with the computer. It is a computer course, with a practical focus:
- If you have a laptop: bring it and/or try to replicate what you saw in class at home
- If you don't have it: no problem, it is not a requirement and is not necessary to pass the exam
Methods of teaching support: materials and resources will be given out during the course to support the lessons, and will be uploaded on the course's Moodle page. The lecturer is available during his office hours (also online via Zoom).

Learning assessment procedures
Attendance and student contribution to class is strongly encouraged.
There is no difference in the program, materials and examination between attending and non-attending students.
The exam will be written, consisting mainly of multiple choice questions (with at most one / two open-ended questions).
It is administered in computerised form (in a computer-equipped room).
Evaluation criteria
Correctness of the answers in the examination.
Criteria for the composition of the final grade
Proportional to the number of correct answers at the exam.

Contamination Lab
The Contamination Lab Verona (CLab Verona) is an experiential course with modules on innovation and enterprise culture that offers the opportunity to work in teams with students from all areas to solve challenges set by companies and organisations. Upon completion of a CLab, students will be entitled to receive 6 CFU D (type credit).

PLEASE NOTE: In order to be admitted to any teaching activities, including those of your choice, you must be enrolled in the academic year in which the activities in question are offered. Students who are about to graduate in the March-April sessions are therefore advised NOT to undertake extracurricular activities in the new academic year in which they are not enrolled, as these graduation sessions are valid for students enrolled in the previous academic year. Therefore, students who undertake an activity in an academic year in which they are not enrolled will not be granted CFU credits.

Nel piano didattico della laurea triennale in Lingue e letterature per l’editoria e i media digitali (L11 ED-DH) è previsto un tirocinio/stage obbligatorio (CFU 6).
Le attività di stage sono finalizzate a far acquisire allo studente una conoscenza diretta in settori di particolare interesse per l’inserimento nel mondo del lavoro e per l’acquisizione di abilità professionali specifiche.
Le attività di stage sono svolte sotto la diretta responsabilità di un singolo docente presso studi professionali, enti della pubblica amministrazione, aziende accreditate dall’Ateneo veronese.
I crediti maturati in seguito ad attività di stage saranno attribuiti secondo quanto disposto nel dettaglio dal “Regolamento d’Ateneo per il riconoscimento dei crediti maturati negli stage universitari” vigente.
