This seminar aims at giving students the tools to understand the key issues of corpus design and to determine the criteria for the selection of texts to be included in a corpus, as well as to understand the issues related to the transcription and choice of transcription conventions of spoken and digital corpora.
The seminar will provide an overview of the main issues related to corpus design of written, spoken and digital corpora, and of the different steps necessary to prepare the texts for use with corpus analysis tools, starting from the determination of the criteria for data selection.
