The objective is the acquisition by the doctoral students of a narratological terminology for some concepts that unite the novel with the theatre for the analysis of the content at the level of literary motifs, and the illustration of the problems that arise at this level of analysis.
Some theoretical issues of narratology will be illustrated starting from the concepts of Cesare Segre and Michail Bachtin, in particular on the concept of literary motif and on the transition from novel to theater. It will deal with texts from the Spanish Renaissance: the novels of chivalry, the Don Quixote by Cervantes and the theatre of the Siglo de Oro (Lope de Vega and his successors).
