Learning outcomes

In accordance with the literary and cultural specificity of this course, adressed to the Bachelor's degree in Languages and Cultures for Tourism and International Commerce students, but also to the Bachelor's degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures students, the lessons will introduce to the fundamental topics of francophone literatures, between identity and alterity, tradition and stylistic and thematic innovations, in different geographical and cultural areas, such as Belgium, Maghreb, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Antilles and Canada.
The first part, which will also give 6 CFU to the students of Foreign Languages and Literatures, will present the fundamental topics and works, even at a critical and literary level. The second part will focus in particular on the poetics of origins and déracinement, concerning China, Antilles and Québec.
The course, as well as the primary and secondary bibliography, will be in French, which is intended to help students to improve their linguistic comprehension and fluency.
At the end of the course, students shall therefore acquire overall knowledge of the fundamental topics and contexts, as well as the capacity of applying, in French, critical and textual analysis competences to the texts presented during the course.

The course aims to study important themes and problems of francophone literatures, such as identity and otherness, modernity anda traditions, and literary and publishing strategies.
