The course aims at developing theoretical, empirical and methodological knowledge and understanding about Cultural Geography and the cultural approach to tourism. It will address some of the cutting edge aproaches and major issues of the international geographical debate in the field and will focus on related research methods and case studies. Particularly, attention will be given to research projects designed to promote an everyday as well as leisure-oriented mobility intended to foster sustainability and social inclusiveness. Also, the course will help to develop theoretical and practical skills related to research design and communication useful for the final dissertation.
- Human and Cultural Geography: different approaches and their temporal and geographical contextualisation
- "International" Cultural Geography
- Research methodologies and qualitative research methods
- The cultural approach to tourism, the contribution of geography
- Emerging research trajectories and themes within the international geographical debate on tourism.
- Tourism, mobility and the everyday
- Research design and communication
- The role of geo-cultural qualitative research in the promotion of an everyday and leisure-oriented mobility aimed at fostering sustainability and social inclusiveness.
Lectures, seminars, individual and/or group projects to promote an active and critical participation of the students.
NB: Students attending lessons will have the chance to do individual and/or group work, which will be assessed as part of the final exam.
