The course consists in a single module that includes seminar-like exercises.
It aims at making the student familiar with the main cultural movements and literary works in Spain from the 1898 crisis to nowadays, with a special emphasis on contemporary literature dealing with the Spanish Civil War. The historical-literary approach to authors, works, and cultural movements will pay due attention to their historical, social, amd political contexts.
Contemporary Fiction on the Spanish Civil War.
The exam will be oral, in Italian, and aimed at testing the student’s knowledge of Parts I and II of the programme. It cannot be divided into modules to sit for separately.
Attending students only can decide whether to substitute Part I with a written in-progress test (test + questions requiring short answers). The oral test on part II includes reading, translating and commenting of passages drawn from the texts selected for the course (Part I and II). The student will have to demonstrate his textual comprehension and his ability to place the examined work in its historical and cultural context.
Students are advised to sit for the oral exam once they have acquired a linguistic competence corresponding, at least, at the B1 level.
Non-attending students are to follow the bibliographic instructions given in the programme; however, they are advised to contact the teaching professor anyway.
