HAMLET and TORRISMONDO. SHAKESPEARE and TASSO
In an intensive group study of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedy and Tasso’s “Northern” play, students learn methods for reading and analyzing the texts while examining their cultural and historical contexts. Class work will focus on a comparative reading of the two great Cinquecento tragedies, on the differences and similarities between characters, references, plots, poetical style, and language.
