Curriculum

Cristiano Ragni is Junior Researcher (RtdA) in English Literature at the University of Verona. After earning a PhD in Comparative Literature at the University of Perugia, he was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Turin (2019/2020) and at the University of Genoa (2020/2021). His main research interests lie in the relationship between theater, politics, and theology in Elizabethan England, with particular attention to authors such as Christopher Marlowe and William Shakespeare. He is also interested in academic theater in neo-Latin and the reception of the classical heritage in modern and contemporary literature. For the Project In The Margin of Theater (IMT) at the University of Verona, he is mapping the processes of reading early modern dramatic texts as resulting from printed marginalia. He edited the first Italian edition of Christopher Marlowe’s The Massacre of Paris (2017) and published the monograph La Nazione e il Teatro. Alberico Gentili, Shakespeare e l’Inghilterra elisabettiana (2020). He authored numerous contributions in edited collections, and published essays in Textus, Annali di Ca’ Foscari, Rinascimento, InVerbis, and Notes & Queries. Dr. Ragni is Member of the Editorial Board of Skenè. Journal of Theatre and Drama Studies and Managing Editor of Skenè. Texts and Studies. He also contributes to The Year's Work in English Studies (YWES, Oxford University Press) for the section dedicated to Christopher Marlowe.
