Daniela Spina holds a PhD in Comparative Studies from the University of Lisbon (2020), a Master in Comparative and Postcolonial Modern Literatures from the Università di Bologna (2014) and a degree in Foreign Languages ​​and Literatures from the same institution (2011). She studied between Portugal, Italy and Brazil (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais) and has  significant research experience in different institutions in India (University of Delhi, 2014; Nehru Memorial Library, 2014 , 2019; Xavier Center for Historical Research, 2014, 2018, 2019; Goa State Central Library 2014, 2018, 2019). Among her main scientific interests are: the literature of Goa in Portuguese and English; literatures of the Indian Subcontinent; Portuguese-language post-colonial literatures; the theory of literary history; colonial periodical press; post-colonial literary studies; Indian Ocean Studies. She has been interested in Goan and Indian literature since the time of her master's degree and her doctoral thesis is a comparative study of the literary historiography of Goa. She is a member of different research projects, such as “ORION – Portuguese Orientalism” (CEC - University of Lisbon), “Thinking Goa” (University of São Paulo) and the International Group for Studies of the Colonial Periodical Press of the Portuguese Empire (Universidade Nova de Lisboa). Since 2015, she has been a member of the Center for Comparative Studies at the University of Lisbon, first as a doctoral student (February 2015 - June 2020) and later as a PhD researcher (since July 2020). She is a member of the International Association of Lusitanists and the European Association for South Asian Studies. Since January 2021, she has joined the editorial committee of the interdisciplinary journal published by CEC, “Textos & Pretextos”.
