Learning outcomes

The course introduces the main concepts of pragmatics and discourse analysis. The aim of this course is to provide students with the theoretical and practical tools to approach and analyse spoken and written texts from a pragmatics perspective.

- Speech acts
- Cooperative principle
- Cohesion and coherence
- Corpus linguistics
- Codeswitching
- World Englishes
- Computer-mediated-communication

Assessment methods and criteria

Final exam:
The final exam will be written.

In order to access the exam, a B2 certification is required. It is also necessary to PASS both English Language I and English Literature I before taking the exam.
