Learning outcomes

Module: Modulo 1

The course deals with the first centuries of English and German literature (700-1300) and how it was received by contemporary audience. Covering the whole spectrum of genres, it explores the bicultural world of the Middle Ages, combining oral with scriptural, illiteracy with scholarship, vernacular poetry with Latin rhetoric, saecular with clerical, on the example of a meaningful literary theme, the roman de Tristan and its relatives in Middle English and Middle German narrative
